Boston Whalers, often referred to as a "Whaler", is the well-known line of boats built in the United States by the Brunswick Boat Group of the Brunswick Corporation. The typical Boston Whaler is constructed with a foam filled fiberglass hull and configured as a center console boat with an outboard motor.
In 1956 the original hull for the first Boston Whaler was built Richard T. Fisher and C. Raymond Hunt. At the time the first hull was built it was manufactured using polyurethane foam to completely fill the inside of the fiberglass hull. This type of construction has been adopted by other boat builders due to the foams ability to provide additional hull strength and rigidity, exceptional floatation, and favorable sound deadening properties when compared to a more traditionally manufactured fiberglass hull.
Boston Whalers are constantly on the procurement and requisition lists of maritime law enforcement agencies around the world. The Boston Whaler is also used extensively by recreational boating enthusiasts. The Whaler has attracted a loyal following of owners and fans that use their Whaler for sport fishing, water skiing, plain old recreational boating and even as tender for large vessels.
Initially, Boston Whaler boats were manufactured in Massachusetts. The Brunswick Boat Group is currently building them in Edgewater, FL. Contact information:
